We were all given our children for a short time and then they must follow their heart

My son, Deacon Daniel Champoli will be Ordained on June 27, 2009. It has been a long journey since he entered the Minor Seminary in Douglaston in August 2000. My family and I have always supported his decision and I remember how happy and relieved he was when he left home with our blessings. Danny started his discernment at the end of his sophomore and junior year in Cathedral Prep Seminary. He sought the counsel of his Spiritual Director, Fr. Fred Marano, who is the current Rector-Principal of the Prep. It was not an easy decision to make but Danny knew that by entering the seminary, he was following what God wanted him to do.

Deacon Champoli

He has been given an excellent education to prepare him for what lies ahead. Danny was transferred from Douglaston to The Theological College in the Basselin Program and Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and received a Licentiate in Philosophy. He has been assigned to The Pontifical North American College and The Gregorian University for the past three and one half years and will receive a Licentiate in Theology.

In October 2008, our family traveled to Rome to attend Danny's Diaconate Ordination in St. Peter’s Basilica at The Altar of The Chair. It is a day that I will never forget. I witnessed tears of joy and the happiness of heart that my son experienced by the glow on his face. He was overwhelmed when he was presented with The Book of the Gospels. It was a very powerful moment in his life and one that will remain in my heart forever. I know that God has great things ahead for Danny's future and he will give so much to the people he will serve in his ministry.

Please keep Deacon Daniel Champoli in your prayers and support your son if he has an interest in the priesthood. We were all given our children for a short time and then they must follow their heart.
